SmoothToe New England Marathon

David O'Meara, who turned 46 in April, has set another aggressive goal for himself for the summer of 2009 as he competes against the clock in the "SmoothToe New England Marathon... One Mile at a Time". David is attempting to complete 26.2 miles in 27 races, in 27 New England towns in a total time less than 2 hours and 11 minutes during the months of July and August (61 days).  The primary challenge he will need to overcome in this feat is “recovery time”. While he is increasing his race count by 6 races in this event, David is decreasing his recovery time between races from 162 hours to 54 hours on average.

Different from his 2008 event, 20/20/20<5@45, this event will be accomplished by completing all 26.2 miles in a total time less than 2:11:00 with an average per mile time of less than 5 minutes.  To ensure accuracy of the event The Last Mile Racing Company, headed by Charlie Olbrias, will be responsible for the exact timing, proper measurement, and course selection of the entire event. David began his race on July 1st.  You can view the locations and results of the 27 races on our 2009 Races & Events page.

David will continue to share the details of the event via Twitter and his training regimen via his blog.
