In late June 2018, David raced during a St. Louis extreme heat advisory to celebrate speed at 55 years old. It also happened to be the 10th anniversary of The One Mile Runner. He had wanted to race the Macklind Mile in South St. Louis since his inaugural event in 2008. This historic downhill race is known as St. Louis’ Fastest Mile and features races for all ages and skill levels. David finished 1st in the 50-59 Competitive Race category with a time of 5:08. David compared the extreme heat and humidity to a typical summer day in Florida.
